Originally named the North Carolina Cancer Institute we began service to the community in 1952 on the south end of Lumberton. Our unique and interesting story began in the early 1950’s due to the lack of services and care for those struggling with cancer. A group of individuals headed by Mrs. Nancy Marshall the Executive Director of the NC Division of the American Cancer Society choose Lumberton for the site of the new venture. The doors to the first location opened on March 24, 1952. GlenFlora now is located near a quiet residential neighborhood outside Lumberton, NC approximately 1 mile from major shopping venues and Interstate 95. GlenFlora is a modern, 72-bed extended care facility for short term or long term care (Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Care) built in 2000 and opened in 2001. GlenFlora is a not-for-profit organization 501 (c)(3) governed by a local board of trustees.
